Vol. 519 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

239 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if funding will be made available for a sewerage scheme (details supplied) in County Mayo. [13290/00]

A brief for the cross sewerage scheme was received in my Department in 1994 but has not been approved. The scheme is 28th on the list of sewerage schemes submitted by Mayo County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment programmes for this and future years under the National Development Plan 2000-2006.

Michael Creed

Question:

240 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will meet the North Cork division of Cork County Council (housing and sanitary) with a view to expediting sanitary schemes currently with the Department. [13291/00]

Cork County Council has submitted a prioritised assessment of its needs for capital water and sewerage works and the assessment will be taken into account in the framing of the water services investment programme for this and future years under the National Development Plan, 2000-2006. I hope to announce details of the next phase of the investment programme shortly and any meeting required between my Department and the coun cil to discuss individual schemes could more usefully take place after that announcement.
