Vol. 519 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

276 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the proposals he has to expedite the provision of a new Garda station at Kilmacthomas, County Waterford in view of the fact the Garda Representative Association is withdrawing its members owing to the deplorable conditions existing at that station; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13307/00]

As the Deputy is aware, a brief of requirements for a new Garda station at Kilmacthomas, County Waterford is with the Office of Public Works.

I understand that the Office of Public Works expect work to commence on site by December of this year, once the relevant planning consultation process has been completed. In the meantime, I understand that temporary accommodation in Kilmacthomas is being sourced by the Garda authorities.
