Vol. 519 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

120 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) and accept his area aid application in view of the fact that he had purchased additional land but the previous land owner did not have the proper ownership documentation in place before the 28 April 2000 deadline; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13273/00]

Although the closing date for receipt of area aid applications of 28 April 2000 has passed applications will still be accepted for a period of not more than 25 calendar days thereafter but late applications will incur a penalty deduction of any aid payable of 1% for each working day by which the application is late.

The area aid unit of my Department is currently engaged in the process of capturing data in respect of all applications received for 2000 on its electronic database. Until this exercise has been completed the area aid unit will not be in a position to indicate whether or when precisely this application has been received. However, provided that this application has been received within the deadline for receipt of late payments it will be accepted on the basis outlined above.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

121 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when 1998 cattle headage payments will be made to persons (details supplied) in County Donegal as a result of the successful appeal of their late area aid application. [13274/00]

Following appeals, the 1998 area aid applications for both the above named persons have been fully processed with no outstanding errors. Consequently, my Department is now in a position to process for payment their applications under 1998 the cattle headage scheme. Payment will issue to the persons named within the next two weeks.
