Vol. 519 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Websites.

Question:

119 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the guidelines in place for regulating the type of material placed on his departmental websites; the further guidelines to regulate the links included on the website; and if the guidelines in this regard include party political or commercial material. [14024/00]

The redesign of the Department's website last year took account of the recommended guidelines for public sector organisations, which were launched in October 1999, and which are available on the Department of the Taoiseach's website at:

http://www.irlgov.ie/taoiseach/publication/webpg/guidelines.htm.

The quality customer service group, the partnership committee, which is representative of all grades in the Department, and the senior management team were consulted on the final content of the Department's website and the critical links to the sites of the bodies that come under the aegis of this Department – Bord Fáilte Éireann, CERT and Shannon Development. Other links from the website include links to the European Union, Departments and offices and Government sites in general.
