62 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will ensure that a reply is furnished to correspondence dated 28 March 2000 (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13966/00]
The correspondence received from the Deputy was given full consideration by my Department, but it was decided that in all the circumstances a 50% penalty would be imposed on the REPS participant concerned under declaration of land. This person was informed on 4 May of the decision to impose a penalty and of his right of appeal. A formal reply to the Deputy's correspondence will issue within one week.
