74 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the total number of participants in the REP scheme; the number at a corresponding date three years ago; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13993/00]

The total number of REPS participants paid between the beginning of the current scheme in June 1994 to 31 December 1999 was 47,013. At 31 December 1999 there were 45,450 active REPS participants.

At 31 December 1996 there were 21,987 participants in the scheme.
