Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

John Perry

Question:

245 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will ensure that funds are allocated for a new sewerage scheme in Ballygawley, County Sligo, in view of the fact that there are up to 160 houses in the area at present that operate on an individual septic tank system and having regard to the proposal to locate a country club, hotel and health centre and 70 houses with up to an investment of £15 million in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14368/00]

My Department has no formal proposal from Sligo County Council in relation to this scheme. It is ninth on the list of sewerage schemes submitted by the council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment for this and future years under the National Development Plan, 2000-2006.
