Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Pay.

Pat Carey

Question:

285 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that arrears of payment have not yet been made to retired members of the Garda Síochána arising out of the most recent settlement; when these arrears will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14175/00]

Work is ongoing on the payment of arrears due to retired members of the Garda Síochána. It is envisaged that the arrears will be paid within eight weeks. This time scale is necessary due to the large volume of work involved in calculating-checking and restoring the members to the payroll.
