Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

John McGuinness

Question:

325 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 406 of 28 March 2000, the inspectors' report regarding the case of a person (details supplied) is available; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the situation has worsened and the person is now receiving less assistance than before as the computer hardware and software is not available; and, if, in view of the fact that the person has dyslexia and the matter was first raised in early 1999, he will insist on positive action in this regard. [14128/00]

I have noted the concerns expressed by the Deputy in relation to the case in question.

I have directed my Department's inspectorate to provide an immediate report on the needs of the child in question so that any additional support which may be required can be put in place without further delay.
