Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

366 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science when a student (details supplied) in County Donegal will be assessed by an educational psychologist; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14561/00]

The Deputy will be pleased to know that I am providing additional posts to greatly expand NEPS nationally. Under the Government's plans, it is envisaged that all schools will have a fully operational educational psychological service by the end of 2004. Pending the expansion of the national educational psychological service to all schools in County Donegal, the psychological service of the North Western Health Board is willing to carry out urgent educational psychological assessments. As a result, the health board should be asked to arrange for the assessment of the student in question.
