Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

119 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Public Enterprise when she will approve amendments to the CIE wages grades pension scheme in view of the fact that both the company and unions agreed to the amendments in 1999; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14435/00]

I have today given approval to the company to submit a draft amendment scheme which will result in an improvement in the lump sum gratuity which is paid to members at retirement under the pension scheme for regular wages staff.

Before a final decision can be made, a number of statutory provisions must be complied with. I can assure the Deputy the matter is being dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
