72 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Defence the current status of the application to join the Permanent Defence Force by a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14827/00]

Minister for Defence (Mr. M. Smith):

The military authorities have advised that they have not received an application from the individual concerned for the current programme of general service enlistment to the Permanent Defence Force.
