The responsibility for the provision of services in the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital now rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate this matter and to reply directly to the Deputy.
186 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in arranging a consultation for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who is a public patient and waiting for a hip replacement; and if he can expedite the case and bring forward the date of appointment to June 2000.
