Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

218 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the new report from Comhairle na nOspidéal and his Department which recommends that vascular surgery should be concentrated in seven viable regional centres and staffed by a complement of up to 30 surgeons with a special interest in this speciality; and the way in which he will implement these proposals. [15152/00]

A joint committee comprising of representatives from Comhairle na nOspidéal and my Department has been set up to examine the needs of vascular surgery nationally. I understand the report is nearing completion and will be published in June. At that stage I will be in a position to consider its recommendations.
