Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

254 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will confirm the compulsory purchase order to facilitate the construction of the Newtownmountkennedy to Arklow (phase 1) road development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14904/00]

Wicklow County Council has submitted the Wicklow County Council compulsory purchase (Newtownmountkennedy to Ballynabarny Road improvement scheme) No. 2 Order, 1999, for my confirmation and has applied for approval on environmental grounds. A public local inquiry into objections received by me against confirmation of the compulsory purchase order and into the propriety of confirming the order in so far as it relates to the extinguishment of public rights of way was held and evidence in relation to the likely effects on the environment was heard. I will give my decision on the matter as soon as possible.
