Question:

323 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the capital programmes contained in the national development plan and funded by her Department which has commenced in the south Kildare constituency during 2000; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15268/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 322 and 323 together.

The National Monuments & Historic Properties, National Parks & Wildlife, Waterways, under the umbrella of Waterways Ireland, and the Arts divisions of my Department will have a total expenditure of approximately £300 million under the National Development Plan 2000-2006. Apart from waterways, it is not yet possible to give an estimate of the amount of expenditure which will be undertaken under the plan in the south Kildare constituency during 2000. In the case of waterways, I can say that the following projects will commence in the Kildare area in 2000: – Athy – remedial works to dry dock, Athy – Barge Restoration Rathangan – 18m mooring at Rathangan Bridge Ballykelly – 12m jetty at Ballykelly Vicarstown, County Laois – 18m jetty at Vicarstown Fisherstown, County Laois, 30m jetty at Fisherstown.
