Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Drugs Strategy.

John McGuinness

Question:

363 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if his Department has met with an organisation (details supplied); and the progress, if any, in relation to this organisation's application for funding. [15229/00]

I met representatives from Victory Outreach on 3 May last.

At that meeting, I explained that the funding available to me under the national drugs strategy is earmarked for the local drugs task forces – LDTF – operating in Dublin, Cork and Bray and that I do not have discretion to allocate funding other than to projects contained in the action plans developed by the LDTFs. I informed the group that the LDTFs were currently updating their action plans and suggested that the group make direct contact with one or more LDTFs in relation to their application for funding.
