Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Funding.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

382 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Education and Science when the report from the steering group on school funding will be published; the plans, if any, he has for the full implementation of the reports recommendations; the plans, if any, he has for an interim substantial increase in the capitation grant awarded to schools in the voluntary secondary sector where full implementation of these recommendations is not immediately possible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15067/00]

I can confirm that the report in question was published last month and I will arrange to have a copy provided to the Deputy.

Since the publication of this report, I have announced a major funding initiative under which schools will receive a grant of £20 per pupil in respect of support services with a minimum or floor grant of £4,000. I regard this initiative as a significant advance in the funding of our schools.
