Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Overseas Development Aid.

Noel O'Flynn

Question:

107 Mr. O'Flynn asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs when the proposals regarding the multi-annual budgetary allocation to overseas development assistance will be brought before the Dáil; and the way in which the Government will reach the target of 00.7% by 2007. [14964/00]

Proposals on aid allocations and aid management have been prepared in my Department and are under consideration by me in consultation with the Minister of State, prior to their submission to Government. The focus of the proposals is on a commitment to maintaining a quality programme while making steady and substantial increases in the aid budget which will allow us to reach the UN target for aid allocations within a specific and realistic time frame. I hope to have the proposals ready for submission to Government in the near future.
