Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Irish Aviation Authority.

Bernard Allen

Question:

125 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence when his Department first retained the Irish Aviation Authority; the annual cost of this to his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15117/00]

The Department consults the Irish Aviation Authority from time to time on aviation matters and does not retain the authority on a fee paying basis.

Since 1975 Aer Rianta have been retained on an annual fee basis to advise the Department in relation to planning applications for development works in the vicinity of Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel which might affect the use of the aerodrome. The current charge is £3,500 per annum.
