Vol. 520 No. 2

Written Answers. - EU Funding.

David Stanton

Question:

65 Mr. Stanton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the 42 Irish projects which were approved for support involving EU co-financing under the Leonardo da Vinci vocational education programme in 1999; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15596/00]

The national authorities for the implementation of the Leonardo da Vinci programme in Ireland are the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and the Department of Education and Science. The programme is operated on behalf of those Departments by Léargas, the exchange bureau, which acts as the national co-ordination unit for the programme in this country.

In 1999, of the 43 Irish projects selected for funding, 38 in total received funding under the programme. Sixteen have contracted with the European Commission for centralised funding and 22 have contracted with Léargas, the national co-ordination unit, for ‘decentralised' funding.

I have asked Léargas to supply details of the projects and will arrange to have these transmitted to the Deputy.
