72 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason an animal slaughtered (details supplied) under the animal disease eradication programme was classified as a bullock when in fact he was an uncastrated male and should have been graded accordingly. When the animal in question was examined at the grading point on the kill line, it displayed none of the characteristics of a young bull and was classified as a steer.

Following an appeal made by the herdowner, the animal was examined again on the next day and the original findings were confirmed.
