Vol. 520 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bovine Disease Controls.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

72 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason an animal slaughtered (details supplied) under the animal disease eradication programme was classified as a bullock when in fact he was an uncastrated male and should have been graded accordingly. [15684/00]

When the animal in question was examined at the grading point on the kill line, it displayed none of the characteristics of a young bull and was classified as a steer.

Following an appeal made by the herdowner, the animal was examined again on the next day and the original findings were confirmed.
