Vol. 520 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

256 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the extent to which free school transport will be provided for second level students from County Kildare attending Coláiste Cois Life, Lucan, County Dublin, in view of the fact that at least 19 of the students from north Kildare will qualify ordinarily on the basis of distance in 2000; if the service will be initiated in the near future as the official application was submitted in April 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16040/00]

An application for the establishment of a transport service to the school in question was recently received in the school transport section of my Department. A report has been sought from Bus Éireann. The Deputy will be informed of the outcome as soon as possible.
