Vol. 522 No. 2

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

150 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be approved and paid under the farm early retirement scheme, in view of the fact that his application was submitted on 22 December 1999; and the reason this man has had to wait over six months for a decision to issue. [18070/00]

The person named applied for an early retirement pension on 22 December 1999. Processing of this application is nearing completion. There is one outstanding detail to be finalised by the applicant, and when this is done the application will be approved for payment.

Jack Wall

Question:

151 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Kildare will receive an early retirement from farming payment in view of the fact she appealed the decision some time ago and has not received any confirmation or information of a decision in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18143/00]

I can confirm that my Department has recently received an appeal in this case and the appeal is being actively considered at present.

The person named will receive a reply within the next two weeks.
