Vol. 522 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

305 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the water and sewerage schemes in County Mayo which have been sanctioned funding in 1999 and 2000; and if these schemes have actually commenced. [18290/00]

Details of approved public water and sewerage schemes in County Mayo are set out in the 1999 water services investment programme, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library. The most up to date information in relation to progress on these schemes would be available from the council itself.

I hope to announce details of a three year water services investment programme for 2000-02 within the next few weeks.

Question:

306 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the water and sewerage schemes for County Mayo which are in his Department awaiting sanction for funding. [18291/00]

A copy of the list of water and sewerage schemes identified by Mayo County Council in response to my Department's request to each local authority to undertake a fresh assessment of the need for capital works in its area and to prepare a prioritised list of projects based on the assessment was sent to the Deputy on 5 November last. This assessment is the council's most up to date and complete statement of its current water and sewerage infrastructure proposals and will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment for this and future years under the National Development Plan 2000-2006. I am now arranging to have a further copy of the list sent to the Deputy.
