Vol. 522 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

426 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will have considerations made into providing grant aid to Calry St. Joseph's Community Park, County Sligo, under the 2000 sports capital programme to help subsidise the provision of a much needed outdoor basketball court at the community park; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18461/00]

The sports capital programme for 2000 was widely advertised and over 1,650 completed applications were received by the closing date. All applications received under the programme, including from the organisation in question, are being evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria which are outlined in the guidelines which accompanied the application form. I intend to announce the 2000 grant allocations at the earliest possible date following completion of this assessment.
