479 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress, if any, in the provision of a full size gym at Loreto School, Granges Road, Kilkenny; and if he will expedite the application in view of the urgent need for such a facility and the length of time the school has been waiting. The management authority of Loreto College in Kilkenny has applied to my Department for grant assistance towards the provision of a physical education hall and additional accommodation.
My Department is currently developing templates for physical education halls that will be piloted in a number of schools. Loreto College is being considered in this context.
A study of the suitability of the site for a physical education hall and extension project is now in progress and officials from my Department will shortly be in further contact with the school authorities on this matter.

The management authority of CBS secondary school, James Street, Kilkenny, has applied to my Department for grant assistance towards the provision of a physical education hall.
My Department is currently developing templates for physical education halls that will be piloted in a number of schools. CBS secondary school in Kilkenny is being considered in this context.
An examination of the suitability of the available site for the construction of a physical education hall is currently under way. Initial site investigations indicate that the site may not be suitable. Discussions between officials from my Department and the school's management authority are ongoing.
Tender documentation has been received in respect of the provision of a lift at the school. This documentation is currently under consideration.
