Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - Legal Actions.

Question:

81 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the number of legal actions entered into by the Department within the last 12 months; the number that are either successful, failed or ongoing; the total cost of these actions; the number of barristers employed; and the amount of money given to each barrister. [19070/00]

In the past year, my Department has initiated two cases of legal proceedings and both cases are ongoing. As neither case has reached court proceedings the matter of costs does not arise. No barristers have been employed in connection with the proceedings in question.
