Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - Eircom Persons.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

88 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 88 of 2 December, 1999, Eircom has responded to her in relation to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 and other retired persons in similar circumstances; the outcome of this response; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [19021/00]

Policy administration in relation to superannuation arrangements of former employees of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs who transferred to Telecom Éireann on vesting day is essentially a matter for the company. I am advised that it is the current policy of Eircom that pensions are linked to increases granted to appropriate serving staff. Following representations from the Deputy, I had taken this matter up with the company some time ago. A response was received from the company on 27 June and I have written to the Deputy in the matter enclosing a copy of their response. I am also arranging to have this matter considered by my colleague, the Minister for Finance.
