Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rail Network.

Richard Bruton

Question:

90 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the current state of her proposals for new light rail and heavy rail links on Dublin's northside and the timing of each phase of the projects. [19023/00]

The Dublin Transportation Office, DTO, is currently updating its transportation strategy for the period up to 2016. The DTO made a preliminary presentation of its proposed strategy to the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructural Development and Public Private Partnerships in April. The preliminary draft of the strategy contained proposals for the provision of rail-based services on Dublin's north side and addressed the need to provide adequate public transport services to Dublin Airport. The DTO is now proceeding urgently to complete the work on its updated strategy and this will be considered by the Government following formal submission.
