Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

109 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he has concluded or agreed proposals in respect of the siting of a new Garda station at Leixlip, County Kildare, the plans he has to proceed with the proposals as originally envisaged; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18956/00]

The position in relation to the provision of a new Garda station in Leixlip is as outlined in my reply to the Deputy's Question No. 114 on 8 June 2000, which stated that it is intended to provide a new Garda Station in Leixlip, the Office of Public Works has encountered considerable difficulty over a long period in securing a suitable site for the development, and two sites are currently under consideration but both are subject to difficulties which must be resolved before they could be considered suitable. Everything possible is being done to progress the matter to the earliest possible conclusion.
