Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - Vaccination Programme.

Michael Creed

Question:

128 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Health and Children the methods used by his Department to confirm the uptake levels for all years since the introduction of the three in one vaccine in view of its inability and that of the various health boards, to make available detailed vaccination records on request to some parents. [18827/00]

Reliable immunisation uptake data in respect of three-in-one vaccine and other primary immunisations is available since the introduction of the current GP delivered programme in December 1995. Detailed uptake information in respect of earlier years is not available for all health boards or for all years and cannot be considered reliable.

My Department does not hold individual child immunisation records. Under the current immunisation programme, such records must be retained by the individual general practitioners concerned and must be available to the health boards and/or my Department as required. Health boards endeavour to facilitate requests for individual immunisation records but the extent to which such records are available for the pre-1995 period may vary according to the time which has elapsed since a child was immunised.
