165 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of local authority houses allocated for tenancy in the years 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1998 and 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18948/00]

179 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of families or individuals who have been allocated tenancies by each local authority during the past 12 months. [18994/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 165 and 179 together.

Detailed statistics of the number of families or individuals who have been allocated tenancies are not returned by local authorities to my Department. However information relating to first time lettings by local authorities is available in the annual housing statistics bulletins published by my Department. Copies of these bulletins are available in the Oireachtas Library.

Details of the number of houses completed under the affordable housing scheme in Kildare and nationally, beginning with the March quarter 2000 will be published in the Department's quarterly housing statistics bulletin next week. My Department does not receive information from local authorities on the number of houses occupied under the affordable housing scheme.
