Question:

254 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position in relation to a special needs post for a school (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18900/00]

I am aware of the case referred to by the Deputy.

The application for special needs assistant support for this school is currently being investigated by my Department's inspectorate.

As soon as the inspector's report is received in my Department, the matter will be considered and officials of my Department will be in contact with the school authorities.

255 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science when a decision will be made on an application for a classroom assistant for a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [18903/00]

I am aware of the special needs of the pupil referred to by the Deputy.

My Department's inspectorate is currently investigating the need for childcare support for this pupil.

Officials from my Department will be in contact with the school authorities when this investigation is completed.
