257 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the progress made in relation to the refurbishment of St. Anne's and St. Thomas' national schools, Esker, Lucan, County Dublin, since the meeting attended by officials from his Department and representatives of the management, staff and parents of the schools on 11 July 2000; and the agreed programme of work and the time schedule. Works in relation to the subdivision of a classroom have been carried out at St. Anne's and St. Thomas' national schools, Esker, Lucan. Tender documents are being prepared in relation to roof repairs and my Department is also considering a report on the drainage system at the schools.

The school authorities will be kept informed of progress as it happens.

259 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has reached a decision as to whether to rebuild or refurbish Coolmine Community School, Dublin 15; the expenditure which has been provided; when he expects work to commence; and the number of second level pupils his Department expects the school to cater for. [21228/00]

My Department recently commissioned a feasibility study of Coolmine Community School, Dublin 15. The purpose of the study was to assess the overall condition of the building and to recommend the most cost-effective solutions for identified deficiencies. The study's findings are being considered in my Department currently.

The planning section of my Department is conducting an analysis of the long-term projected enrolment of the school.
