David Stanton

Question:

223 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the grant schemes that have been submitted under the national development plan to the European Union for approval; the current situation pertaining to the approval or otherwise of these schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22318/00]

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Mr. Walsh): The following table sets out the agriculture, food and related rural development measures under the national development plan 2000-06. As outlined in the table, the individual measures are either included in the CAP rural development plan, 2000-06, or will form part of various operational programmes.
The position regarding EU approval is as follows: the measures included in the CAP rural development plan were approved by the European Commission on 28 September 2000; the relevant operational programmes await EU approval which is expected shortly; the majority of measures included in the operational programmes require European Commission approval from a state aid viewpoint and approval has been sought in all relevant instances.
