Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Ivan Yates

Question:

236 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has drawn to the recently published report commissioned by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development in relation to the role of women and specific proposals in relation to reform of the tax and social welfare system which would give individual rights of pension, PRSI and carer's allowance to women working full time in the home and on the farm; if he will consider a positive response towards this, both in the short-term and in the context of the forthcoming budget; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22248/00]

I am aware of the recently launched report of the advisory committee on the role of women in agriculture to which the Deputy refers. The report's recommendations regarding tax, PRSI and social welfare payments will be given due consideration in the context of the forthcoming budget.
