Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Nursing Homes.

Tony Killeen

Question:

310 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Health and Children the arrangements that have been put in place to accommodate the 29 geriatric patients in a nursing home (details supplied) in County Clare which is due for closure shortly. [22234/00]

The provision of health services in County Clare is a matter for the Mid-Western Health Board. I have been advised by the chief executive officer of the board that the facility referred to by the Deputy is a private nursing home and has been placed for sale by the owner. In the event that the nursing home is sold, it is possible that it will be as a going concern, in which case there may not be a requirement for alternative arrangements for the patients. The board has assured me that if the issue of alternative accommodation for the residents arises the matter will be addressed by it.
