Question:399 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the position regarding the allocation of a grant for the Ardnaree Boxing Club, Ballina, County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21922/00]

Following the public advertising of the sport capital programme for 2000, in excess of 1,600 applications were received, including an application from the organisation in question. All of the applications were assessed in accordance with the assessment criteria outlined in the guidelines, terms and conditions governing the programme. Following this assessment, allocations were made to some 650 organisations. I am deferring consideration of applications from boxing clubs under the 2000 programme until issues still outstanding between the Irish Amateur Boxing Association and the Irish Sports Council relating to the anti-doping in sport programme have been resolved.
