Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Information Technology.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

168 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the schemes and supports available from his Department or agencies under the aegis of his Department to schools, businesses, community groups and individuals, to promote information technology, including greater awareness of relevance, the development of skills and access to computers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22095/00]

I wish to advise the Deputy that the remit of my Department does not include the operation of schemes or supports that promote information technology to schools, businesses, community groups or individuals.

However, my Department does provide computer access to all its office-based staff. This is supported by a comprehensive information technology training programme which the Department runs to promote and develop the information technology skills of its staff.
