Question:

86 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 2000 cattle and sheep headage. [22748/00]

The person named included 57.00 hectares in his 2000 area aid application. An area of 56.50 hectares was determined which is some 0.50 hectares or 0.88% less than the area claimed.

Under Article 9 of EU Regulation 3887/92, no penalty is applied when the difference is less than 3%. Therefore, in this case no penalty is applied, leaving the area determined for payment purposes at 56.50 hectares. Any payments due based on this area will issue as soon as possible.

The person named opted for the census system for the purposes of determining his eligibility for 2000 extensification premium.

He lodged his census form on 3 October 2000 after the closing date of Friday 1 September 2000 which was set for the lodging of census forms in local livestock offices. Details of the number of animals he declared for the first three census dates have already been input on the Department's computer system.
