Vol. 524 No. 4

Written Answers. - Audiology Services.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

111 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 128 of 12 October 2000, he will ensure there is no diminution either in the short or longer term in regard to the services provided for visiting teachers for hearing impaired children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22768/00]

The audiology services formerly provided by the National Rehabilitation Board are now the responsibility of the Northern Area Health Board. These services are subject to ongoing monitoring to ensure there is no diminution in the level of service provided. Furthermore, it is hoped that with the reorganisation of services some improvement in the services will be possible. Such services as had been provided by the National Rehabilitation Board for visiting teachers for hearing impaired children will be maintained under these arrangements.
