Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Question:

276 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will carry out an urgent investigation into the lengthy delays in carrying out hip replacement operations at Tallaght hospital, Dublin 24; the steps he will take to provide more beds to resolve the recurring shortage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22895/00]

The responsibility for the provision of services at the Adelaide and Meath hospitals, incorporating the National Children's Hospital, now rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate this matter and to reply directly to the Deputy.
