Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John Perry

Question:

382 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if he will intervene with the Civil Service Commission and have a person (details supplied) in County Sligo appointed to an office in Sligo in view of the fact that she is a former civil servant, has a young family in school and college and is unable to take up a position in Dublin; if he will make a favourable decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23881/00]

The situation is that the person in question declined an offer of appointment to the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs in Dublin. Had she accepted the offer, she could have applied for transfer and would have been considered at a later stage when her placing on the relevant transfer list had been reached. It is possible that she may now wish to approach the Civil Service Commission with a view to being offered a further assignment to Dublin.
