Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rape Crisis Centres.

John Bruton

Question:

505 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans he has to increase funding to the national network of rape crisis centres; if he has satisfied himself that the resources of the rape crisis centre in Dundalk, County Louth adequately cover the Louth/Meath garda division; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24262/00]

Officials of my Department are currently in discussions with the national network of Rape Crisis Centres with a view to identifying their immediate funding requirement for next year. A final decision in relation to funding for the network will be taken in the context of the overall funding for health services next year. My Department has been in contact with the North Eastern Health Board in relation to the funding for the Dundalk Rape Crisis Centre.
