Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John McGuinness

Question:

628 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny has been put on a waiting list for treatment at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny in view of the urgency of her case as outlined by her general practitioner and hospital consultant; if his Department will investigate the complaints made by this person and the consultant in relation to the waiting lists; and the reason for the service being reduced. [24810/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Kilkenny is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and reply to the Deputy directly.
