Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Ivan Yates

Question:

835 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education and Science when works will be approved in relation to the building of an extension, the refurbishment of the existing school and the construction of a perimeter fence for a post primary school (details supplied) in County Wexford. [23926/00]

An application for additional accommodation and refurbishment of existing accommodation at the school to which the Deputy refers is progressing through architectural planning. A stage one report, site suitability, will be the subject of a planning and briefing meeting scheduled for 16 November 2000. At this early stage of architectural planning process, it is not possible to indicate when this project is likely to go to construction.

Concerning the provision of security fencing at the school, the school's management authority was asked in February 2000 to submit a report with costings on this matter from its consultant architect. This report is awaited.
