Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Third Level Students.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

846 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a person (details supplied) in County Meath, who is anxious to complete a diploma/post graduate course in Dublin City University, is prohibited from doing so because she is a citizen of New Zealand and has been informed that she has to wait three years if she wishes to pursue this course; the steps he will take so that all people living here can be treated equally; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23939/00]

The admission of individual students to a university is a matter for the individual university concerned. I understand, however, from inquiries made by the Higher Education Authority that Dublin City University has no record of an application from the person concerned and, furthermore, that the university welcomes applications from non-European Union applicants for its programmes.

Question No. 847 taken with Question No. 840.
