Vol. 526 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drainage Schemes.

Michael Noonan

Question:

184 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will provide a bridge across a river which divides a person's land in County Limerick (details supplied); if his attention has been drawn to the fact that work carried out on this tributary of the Mulcair river makes it difficult to bring animals and machinery from one part of his land to the other; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25919/00]

The Office of Public Works has no proposals to provide a bridge to the person in this case. They are currently in the process of constructing a concrete paved ford crossing to the person's lands in County Limerick as part of the works of the Mulcair (Cappamore) certified drainage scheme, which facility they consider can adequately cater for the transport of animals and machinery across the watercourse in question. This facility is superior to the unpaved crossing, which existed at this location.
