Vol. 526 No. 4

Written Answers. - Cancer Incidence.

Austin Currie

Question:

261 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Health and Children if any figures are available on the incidence of cancer in Lucan, Clondalkin, Newcastle, Rathcoole and Saggart areas of County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26824/00]

My Department does not routinely collect data on the incidence of cancer. The National Cancer Registry is the statutory body with responsibility for the collection of data on the incidence of, and mortality from cancer in Ireland. My Department has asked the director of the registry to respond to the Deputy directly with the data requested.
